Shrek’s Adventure London
“How about we go to Shrek’s Adventure?” I said. We are Merlin pass holders, and my boys love a theme park. However, it’s January, and they are shut. So we decided to get the most out of our passes.
Ollie is a massive fan of Shrek, so we went to Central London. Luckily, I knew precisely where Shrek’s Adventure was located. Also on Sunday, you can park in the national theatre car park for £8.50 all day which I think is a great value.
Max, Ollie and I arrive at Shrek’s Adventure after some sightseeing. Ollie was really excited to see Big Ben.
Shrek’s Adventure is described as a: “Brilliantly bonkers interactive and immersive walkthrough experience.” I agree that’s a reasonably accurate description! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it made me smile.
Entering Shrek’s Adventure
You start the tour on the DreamWorks magical bus. This is a 4D film experience during which the bus bumps into a witch who is Rumpelstiltskin’s girlfriend. For the rest of the time, you are running from Rumpelstiltskin, who isn’t happy about what’s happened to his other girlfriend.
Along the way, you meet Pinocchio, Puss in Boots, Cinderella and the Muffin Man. You play along with the actors, which the kids love and get lost in a mirrored maze.
I won’t spill the beans about how the tour ends, but we all had a great afternoon.
We would have loved to have got some photos inside, but there was a no-photography policy.
My boys are 6 and 9, and they both got involved. 10-11 is the upper age for the children, in my opinion, but I will try next winter/again.
You can find more information about Shrek’s Adventure here. Tickets start at £24.
You may have or would like to explore the option of getting a Merlin Annual Pass which will give you unlimited access to all of Merlin’s attractions. We have the Gold passes; you can find more information about them here.
As pass holders, we will slowly work through the Merlin attractions. We spotted the London dungeon as we were there. The boys are interested in going there.
